Local Business Spotlight: Full Moon Cineplex

Nashville's classic horror film dinner theatre, Full Moon Cineplex

Local Business Spotlight: Full Moon Cineplex

We usually spotlight our favorite local businesses—places that we love and go back to frequently. We haven’t actually been to this month’s local business, but we’ve been dying to check it out and wanted to go ahead and share it with you since this is the perfect time of year to visit!

Courtyard Cinemas on Lebanon Pike in Hermitage was the first place I watched Hocus Pocus and many of my other childhood favorites in the early 90’s. I still have fond memories of going to the theater with both my daycare at the time (Dodson Chapel UMC) and with my grandmother, who always let me visit the concession stand (making her my obvious favorite).

The theater that once anchored the Jackson’s Courtyard shopping center closed and sat empty for 13 years until new owners Ben and Stacey Dixon moved into the space and opened Full Moon Cineplex, a theater focused on classic and mainstream horror films for customers, like themselves, who can’t get enough of them. I don’t think I’ll be able to talk my grandmother into going with me any more, but my 8 and 13 year old sons can’t wait!

The Dixons offer mom-and-pop service, serving and refilling food and drinks themselves. General admission tickets are just $7 for a movie or $22 for movie and dinner, which also includes endless popcorn and soft drinks. A selection of beer is also available. Dinner customers are asked to order their tickets before 2pm on the day of the movie so they know how many to prepare for. The theater offers both traditional movie theater seating as well as dining tables and chairs.

Nashville’s Longest-Running Haunted Attraction

Nashville’s longest-running haunted attraction, Slaughterhouse, is also now owned by the Dixons and shares the building with the theater and we can’t think of a better pairing for the upcoming season than a horror flick and haunted house! Slaughterhouse will open for the 2019 season on Friday, September 20th from 8-11pm and run through the end of October (hours may vary throughout the season so check before you go).

Available for Private Events

About the Author

My wife and I live in Donelson, where we both were raised and graduated from high school (DCA Classes of 1983 and 1984).  Our current home is on the Cumberland River, very close to my childhood home and the former homes of both my McDonald and Rice grandparents.

Our daughter and son are grown now, and our daughter, Stephanie Miller, is my real estate partner.  She lives in Lebanon with her husband and their two children.  While Stephanie and I specialize in the areas of Downtown Nashville, Donelson, Hermitage, Old Hickory, Mt. Juliet and Lebanon, we have and do serve clients all over Middle Tennessee.

As a Nashville native, I’ve spent a lifetime watching our city evolve, and I am enthusiastic about showcasing it to others and serving their real estate needs.
